Divinity 2 Change Race: The Benefits and Drawbacks of Shifting Your Form

Imagine a playable race inverting the rules of a game, where healing hurts but poison heals, and where non-player characters run away because they're scared. On the upside there's no need for lockpicks because one bony finger will do, and playing dead is as simple as lying down. The undead race in Divinity: Original Sin 2 has finally been unveiled.

Divinity 2 Change Race

The undead look lovely. Any of the game's four other races - human, elf, dwarf, lizard - can be undead, and each is striking to look upon. Skull ornaments can be customised as well as scraggly ghoulish hair both on the head and face.

As with the other DOS2 races, the undead race has a beefy origin story, and this one was dreamt up by none other than legendary character builder Chris Avellone. Fane is the storied character's name and he is ancient, belonging to the race of Eternals who have existed for a millennia. He pre-dates all the other origin characters by centuries.

Fane was locked in a box for years and years until one inquisitive explorer opened the box and discovered him - and got eaten for his troubles. Now Fane is struggling to come to terms with a world where other races exist, and things are very different.

*Divinity Original Sin 2 Mirror Change Race*Divinity 2 Change Race ModHey guys hopefully a Larian emp,Running into a custom race problem. Everything is working properly, but this custom race has blindfolds by default, but I cannot find a way to change the color of the blindfold.ClothColor is defined in the race code by default, so the values exist, thus I tried using the following attributes in code below to call a color (that would then define the blindfold color)-None of these calls worked successfully. Any ideas? Or, Larian, did you define cloth colors but then decided they were irrelevant since its generally defined through equipment?edit- Current workaround is to change VisualSets first ClothColor to desired clothing color. You cannot delete Cloth Colors in a VisualSet (the editor automatically readds them). Not a viable solution, but until this gets looked into thats the alternative. My Divinity OS2 Modding/etc. Youtube Videos Page.Divinity Original Sin 2 Mirror Change Race*The Mask of the Shapeshifter lets you switch race racial ability in exchange for your head gear-slot. You can craft the mask or just loot it from the witch on the beach north of the bridge in act I. Level 1 lumine36.*You can technically change races with my mod, Debug Tools, though this was added mainly for experimenting, so I recommend creating a manual save before adding this mod and trying it (for safety). Level 2 2 points 1 year ago.Divinity 2 Change Race ModThere are several different races to pick from in the game, a unique option and welcome option to this second entry of Divinity- OS. Each race provides a unique racial active ability.

Racial selection for the player character is crucial, since each race has its own set of racial talents that make them better suited for certain scenarios or instances. Players can thus build around a certain race's strengths or weaknesses in order to create impressive or even broken character builds. Just how well do these racial talents stack up against one another?

Lizards in Divinity: Original Sin 2 originally descended from dragons, making them a proud race of esteemed magical warriors. They also retained some of their ancestors' qualities, such as the thick, scaly skin that protects them from fire and fire-related damage. Their physiology also lets them tank through poison attacks.

Previously, this racial talent was something else, but the Definitive Edition changed it to something more modest. It's worth noting that the resistance bonuses aren't very substantial, so it's best not to rely on it too much.

This racial talent is one of the reasons why Lizards are one of the most well-rounded races in Divinity: Original Sin 2. They get an early starting enhancement to their speechcraft, making them handy to have around in any of the game's social situations.

All other races simply pale in comparison to the roleplaying capabilities and the versatility of the undead. Playing as an undead in Divinity: Original Sin 2 can be an acquired taste and is fiddly at first. Most NPCs will fear the sight of these characters, and regular healing is deadly to them.

Once players get the hang of it though, undead characters can be more interesting and dynamic than any other. As an added bonus, they also get the racial trait of whichever their secondary race is, such as undead human, elf, etc.

While the human race's first ability is a little bland, they made up for it with the combat-focused talent Ingenious. Previously, before the Definitive Edition, they got +2 Initiative and +5% Crit Chance, but this likely proved a little too advantageous.

Sid was born, did some stuff, then decided to become a writer. He finds respite in the sweet embrace of mass media escapism after having risked his life too many times as a journalist covering warzones and depressed areas. Nowadays he mostly risks his bladder as he tries to hold his urine waiting for those precious post-credits scenes at the movies or trying to kill Souls-like bosses. So far it's going well. Probably.

The most important choice to make at this stage is race selection [3]. If you are not too familiar with individual skills and parameters, see the chapter of this guide dedicated to that topic. It is important to view the race from the perspective of the entire game, so do not hesitate to try and work out compromises here. Especially if you are going to play in the multiplayer mode.

Lass selection is the first step to defining a complete character, which will be compliant with your playing style and will prove highly efficient in the battlefield. Class determines some factors, such as race, so familiarize yourself with benefits that come from playing as a given race (see the dedicated chapter) and perform a selection of classes that may harmonize with the race that you pick. You can verify skills that come with your class using the arrowheads shown in the screenshot [1].

Look at the above window. Using it, you can customize the appearance of your character. There are not too many of the options, but this may change, considering the fact that this is still the Alpha build of the game.

Using individual arrows, you can change: skin color [1], facial features [2], haircut [3], hair color [4] and facial hair [5]. If the armor shown preview annoys you, you can disable it [6].

Note the screenshot. Parameters highlighted in the screenshot can be additionally customized and the ones that have been shown in the screenshot are the default ones for the class. However, keep in mind that the current build of the game does not allow you to change the starting abilities, which is why the default ones will be used.

Apart from that, you can change attributes [1], abilities [2] and talents [3] that you start the game with. After you have familiarized yourself with your starting abilities in this panel, you can still change your class [4] to match it with your playing style. If you decide on your current selection, you can move on to the rest of the customization options, using the button in the bottom part of the panel [5].

While creating your character, you can pick three skills that will reflect your playing style. One of the skills is determined by the race of your character and you cannot change it. This is a good moment to pick skills in the way that complements racial predispositions of your character, or work better basing on his starting abilities.

Two of the six tags are default for your gender and your race, but you can pick two additional ones. Press the button highlighted in the screenshot, pick two tags from the list and accept your choice.

Typically everything is set in stone (for the most part) after leaving the character creation screen, but the Magic Mirror allows players to change nearly everything about their character. It's just a matter of unlocking it, and there are two ways to do so.

The Magic Mirror can be used to change a number of things about your character. This includes stats, appearance, origin, voice, class, tags, talents, attributes and even those of your party. The only things that can't be altered are your race and skills. Skills have to be reset or added through other means. It's perfect if you want to try something new or just put points into the wrong places. Just be aware that changing your character can change your tags and alter other's attitudes towards you. The Magic Mirror can be used an infinite number of times, so try as many new things as your heart desires, without restarting the game.

The gamerule racePlus allows the players to choose the Demon race without the need of random (by default : False), the gamerule opRace allows the use of random-only races (by default : True). Demon is currently the only random-only race.

Character materials have fresnel effect on them so you can see your character better in different environment and it also has an MSK system, which helps you change colors on certain things like skin and cloths (more on MSK below). If you don't need this functionality you can use any material from the "Base_PBR" folder. After you created your material assign your textures in it and assign material to your mesh. (double click on material in content browser; double click on the mesh in content browser)If your are not using MSK but still want to use character material, just leave it empty (don't enable it in the box) or assign a black texture to it.You can edit the functionality of the material by right clicking it in content browser and selecting "Open in editor".

Beware if you make changes and save the material all the assets that are using the material will change accordingly. You can always make edits and "save as" a separate copy for testing purposes.Material source file can be easily changed if you select your material in the content browser and go to the side bar. 2ff7e9595c
